Visit Trinidad.

The museum lives online — but the railroad history it tells happened here, in a coal-fired junction town at the foot of Raton Pass. Come experience it in the actual place: walk the surviving depots, ride the Southwest Chief, stay downtown, and take in a few of our favorite local spots along the way.

PLACEHOLDER curation note — a few local favorites, not a complete list of everything in town. Nobody pays to be listed; the museum doesn’t take a cut. (Project lead to finalize wording before launch.)

Getting to Trinidad

Trinidad sits at the south end of Colorado on Interstate 25, just below Raton Pass. The Southwest Chief stops here daily, and three highways converge in town.

By train

Amtrak’s Southwest Chief stops at the Trinidad station at 110 W. Pine Street once a day in each direction, connecting east toward La Junta, Lamar, and Kansas City, and south & west toward Raton, the Santa Fe area, and Albuquerque. The depot is a short walk from the historic downtown core. Schedules shift seasonally — check Amtrak.com (opens in a new tab) for live times and ticketing.
